Hello all,
I am sorry that I have not been around in blogland this last week ... I have been on my summer holidays! My husband and I, my brother, my Mum and Dad all took a lovely holiday over to the Greek Island of Rhodes. We had a fantastic time, lots of relaxing and spending time floating around in the pool and in the sea, and as it was early September it was still scorchio! I had a really good rest, and am now sat at my desk, back to work, and really ready to crack on with the orders I had ready to do when I got back.
So onto the good news....
A while ago you may remember me mentioning that I was entering myself into the Kent Independent Traders Awards ... In no way expecting you get anywhere, but being very proud of the home business that I have been building, I thought I'd just do it, after deciding I needed to throw myself out there, and not just stay within the cosiness of my workshop!! I spend all of my time writing this blog, updating the website, the facebook page, Folksy, Etsy and a few other online places, plus fulfilling orders for lovely cards. As my business is primarily creative, I entered into two categories, one of which was 'creative business' and guess what ... I am a finalist !! There are four of us in the category. I am chuffed to say the least, for someone to see what I am doing and building, and to think that it is worth making me a finalist, well, I've been flitting around like a kite ever since I heard!!!
Sometime soon is the awards evening, and I have my ticket booked. It should be a fantastic evening, with lots of time to see what is happening in Kent- I love that the awards are supporting all kinds of independent businesses, and I should get to meet all sorts of people. If you would like to find out more about the Awards, please check out the website here. It is great that awards like this exist, to support those who have small fledgling businesses, not just larger established ones. They also have a FB page if you fancy going over to show your support. Equally, there is a list of finalists on the website, so if you have time go and check out the other finalists, there are a whole host of varied businesses to look at.
Thanks for stopping by, I will be back soon with photos from Greece, and some snaps from the event evening. Cross your fingers everyone!!
